Am I a Futurist? Maybe, but here are 5 of my predictions of the future with AI.  (This is an excerpt of the recent episode of the Everything AI & Law Podcast).

1. AI and Humans will be Best of Friends

• AI robots and chatbots may replace pets

• Benefits of intelligent AI systems would outweigh those of pets

• Humans will prefer robots to traditional pets

2. Human connection will be a scarce and highly-priced commodity

• Prevalence of AI in work and home environments would create a desire for human contact

• Businesses offering human connection services will emerge

• This would be basic human-to-human interactions, not networking or dating

• People will pay premium prices for human interactions

3. Increased Skepticism

• Rise of digital clones (deepfakes) and voice clones

• People will struggle to trust what they see or hear

• Would lead to stricter regulations

4. The concept of “money” will change

• AI replacing jobs will lead to widespread unemployment

• Hence, fewer people will have access to traditional money and its value will diminish

• Rise of regulations requiring a minimum percentage of human employees

• Trade-by-barter systems would re-emergence as people seek creative ways to meet their needs

5. New Jobs, Industries, and Dual Roles

• Emergence of new roles and industries

• Some existing jobs will become obsolete

• Dual roles will develop, such as Data Analyst/Prompt Engineer or Lawyer/Contract Engineer

This is not meant to instigate fear in anyone. Throughout history, humans have shown a remarkable ability to acclimate to change and even find ways to master it. Of course, initially these changes may shake people, but eventually we will emerge on the other side triumphant!

My advice is simple: UPSKILL, UPSKILL, UPSKILL. Familiarize yourself with new technologies, particularly AI.
