Apple Unveils "Apple Intelligence" - New AI System for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

Apple has introduced "Apple Intelligence," a new personal intelligence system deeply integrated into the upcoming iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This new system aims to provide personalized assistance by combining generative AI models with users' individual contexts, all while maintaining a strong focus on privacy.

Key features include:

1. Writing Tools: Systemwide tools to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in various apps.

2. Enhanced Mail and Notifications: Prioritizes important messages, generate email summaries, offers context-aware reply to suggestions. Notifications are also smarter, highlighting important alerts and reducing interruptions when needed.

3. Image Playground: Allows users to create custom images in different styles (Animation, Illustration, Sketch) directly within apps like Messages.

4. Genmoji: Users can create personalized emoji based on descriptions or photos.

5. Improved Photos app: Enables natural language search, making it easier to find specific images. Users can also remove distracting objects from photos and create custom "Memory Movies" by simply describing the desired story.

6. Enhanced Siri: More contextually aware and capable of performing hundreds of new actions across apps. Users can now type to Siri and seamlessly switch between text and voice.

7. Private Cloud Compute: Allows complex AI tasks to run on Apple's servers while maintaining strict private measures.  This includes cryptographic verification to ensure devices only communicate with approved servers and public logging of server software for independent inspection.

8. ChatGPT Integration: Apple is integrating OpenAI's ChatGPT (GPT-4o) across its platforms. Siri can leverage ChatGPT's knowledge (with user permission), and ChatGPT will be available in Writing Tools for content generation, including both text and images.
